I made this little batch program to help at work. I figured that other people may have a use for it so here it is. It is used to look up IP addresses when you have a list of server/computer names. I used it on a list of about 200 servers and it took about 8 minutes, manually would have taken much longer. Read more here...

I literally StumbledUpon this program (pun intended) when checking out Ben Nadels Blog (bennadel.com). So far the site has some bugs but works very well at building web site traffic. The web site is su.pr.
You have to sign up for an account but they are only approving a few per week, you can try this invitation code: “suprbeta” to see if you can get in. StumbleUpon has created a site that allows you to link your Facebook and Twitter accounts to this supr account. This is great to get your website out there, the best part is it creates small links for each of the posts you make, and then analyzes each url for number of clicks, followers, etc. This means you can track how many people are visiting your site from your facebook status or tweets, and also lets you see what articles people seem most interested in. The official iPhone Dev-team jailbreak has been released. It is now called redsn0w and can be used on all iPhones except 3GS. The iPhone Dev Team have a great blog with precautions and information on their projects. Check out the redsn0w entry here. Official rules and instructions: Read more here...
- GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
After my first article about how to hack your carrier file to enable MMS and Tethering on unjailbroken AT&T phones, I discovered that I couldn’t tether with my hackintosh. Why? Well the problem seemed easy enough to fix, I had removed iTunes since my phone is synced with my Dell XPS, and had no need for it on my small 16gb hackintosh ssd. So I just simply reinstalled the latest version of itunes, and bam my phone showed up as an ethernet device, allowing me to tether from my phone to my computer over USB (I haven’t tested Bluetooth yet, as I don’t have bluetooth on my computer). The tethering worked perfectly. I am curious now as to why so many other people have had trouble tethering with a mac, most people said the solution was to install the iPhone 3.0 SDK which I also removed to save space.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any problems these instruction may cause you. AT&T “may” be able to charge you tethering so extra charges are not my fault same as if they drop your contract. Use at your own risk
I have been searching for a way to get Tethering (at the very least) to work with AT&T service. I did find the carrier update to enable tethering however it broke my visual voicemail. After searching I have found the files to allow MMS, Tethering, and maintain Visual Voicemail. I will uploa the files for the carrier file, and the Windows iTunes 8.2 pre-release. Read more here...
Many people are having this problem after downloading the 3.0 firmware:
When you go to up date, iTunes cannot talk to the Activation server and cancels your setup. Here is a simple fix:
When you are ready to update, click update and disconnect your computer from the internet, this will allow you to install the firmware without the stupid activation server error!! For a laptop you can just hit your wifi switch off, desktop just unplug your ethernet connection. After the install begins you can reconnect to the internet.
According to many sources the iPhone 3.0 update will be available for download via iTunes 8.2 at 1pm EST today. Don’t bother trying to update until this afternoon.
So after the WWDC for 2009 passed, we are left with a wealth of helpful information. The majority of the news was already predicted, as far as what pertains to the iPhone anyway. So the new iPhone firmware 3.0 will be made available for free for all iPhone 1st and 2nd gen users on June 17th! For all iPod touch users, you will have to pay a $9.99 fee to upgrade to 3.0, just like 2.0. So the news about the firmware, was already expected and the release date just lets us know that the firmware is coming. More importantly the 3rd gen iPhone information has been released. The new model will be called “iPhone 3G S” of course the S stands for speed and that is what the new phone is all about.
Increased processor performance, added more RAM, a new higher megapixel camera, but maintains the 3G phone’s look. Now for those of you who have been putting off the iPhone, whether it be price or what have you, the 2nd gen iPhone (iPhone 3G) will still be available for $99, a direct blow to Palm’s new Pre. The new iPhone will come in 16GB and 32GB for $199 and $299 respectably. The new phone will be available June 19th, two days after the new firmware. Read more here...
After many, many attempts to get retail OS X and iso OS X installed on my new dell mini 9 I have finally suceeded and am writing my blog entry from the mini 9 on a beautiful OS X 10.5.7.
Why OS X on Mini 9?
Well this seems like a simple enough question to ask, I enjoy technology and have always wanted a mac, which if you have ever looked will break most peoples bank! That being said, I also own an iPhone and have been dying to make my own apps for it. The problem? You can only develop apps on a Mac computer. Solution? Cheap netbook running Mac OS X. So I am working on some apps for the iPhone, and if I decide they are app store worthy I may sign up for the developer program. Read more here...
