iPhone App Sales Update

So enough of the fitness freak. Back to the nerd for this post. The month of October is looking very promising for a record breaking number of App sales for me. September was iffy. October saw the release of 3 new apps and a huge update to most popular app iSupplement.
This is the first time I have tried iAd’s and so far my impression is bleh. Yes bleh, my fill rate is currently sitting around 5%. When someone does click an Ad it generates a decent revenue, but that can only happen if the ad is being displayed. Apple has some work to do on getting advertisers and increasing the fill rate. I think I have made about $6 off of ads in a month. I am eagerly awaiting the financial reports for October (September’s reports were out the first day of October) but from the ‘estimates’ in iTunesConnect.
The actual sales are looking like my total sales from October are at about 50% of my total sales from November ’09 – September ’10. A HUGE increase but still not much money. I find that creating and updating apps is enough fun in itself that making money isn’t that big of a deal but the extra money is always welcomed and nice. According to AppFigures my trend line is heading sharply upwards even though sales are slowly starting to drop down.
I have gotten a few ‘negative’ reviews for iSupplement since the update. One issue with the Date Picker always entering the time as 1 hour before what the wheel says. This baffles me and I can’t reproduce the issue. The other issue was that the app opens and crashes, this also confuses me as I tested this as a clean install on a fresh device and as an update on my own device. The only thing I have to go on is the support ticket that was submitted where the user says they are using it on an iPad. The app is not made for the iPad and therefore shouldn’t even be able to be installed on an iPad. I have no way of testing this yet so I am not sure if Apple made a mistake or I did somewhere.
Either way sales are cool but I am always looking for new suggestions for new apps. This seems to be the most challenging part of developing apps, coming up with ideas for apps. So if you have anything you want made or improved feel free to comment or email me. Enjoy!
