iOS 4.1 Windows Jailbreak for ALL iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads(?)

There has been a ton of drama around the jailbreak community lately due to the release of limera1n. GeoHot (George Hotz) pulled the carpet out from underneath the Chronic Dev Team on 10/09 by releasing his exploit and jailbreak dubbed limera1n the day before the scheduled release of Chronic Dev Teams greenpois0n. The Dev Team had initially planned to release their exploit on 10/10 @ 10:10 but due to the ego maniac geohot releasing his exploit first, they now have to get back to work to implement geohot’s “stolen” exploit into their tool. The SHAtter exploit will remain unreleased until the next generation of iDevices so prevent Apple from patching the exploit. Alright enough drama here is what you need for the jailbreak:

• Note: if you require an UNLOCK to use your iPhone DO NOT UPDATE YET as there is no unlock available yet.
• Note: limera1n is only available for windows at the current time.
• Download limera1n from here: limera1n.
• Update your iDevice to iOS 4.1 via iTunes.
• Now keep your iDevice plugged in and run limera1n.
• Follow the instructions, your device will reboot with the “Connect to iTunes” logo at which time you hold both power and home buttons to reboot the device.
• DO NOT RELEASE the buttons. Once prompted release just the power button and continue to hold the home button.
• Keep holding the home button until limera1n says “exploiting…” then release.
• Your devices should show the limera1n logo and shut off. Turn it back on.
• Now you will have a white limera1n app on your screen, launch it and install cydia, then reboot. (if the icon isn’t there reboot again, if the icon won’t launch restore your iphone to 4.1 and start over)
• Now open Cydia (if cydia is not there reboot your device)
• Update everything in cydia and reboot again.
• Congrats you now have a jailbroken iOS 4.1 iDevice. Enjoy!
