Learning to Develop Apps for the iPhone

Starting Out
I have been doing a lot of research lately on just how to start programming and making apps (to sell!) for the iPhone. One common theme I have come across is the need for a slight background knowledge in C or C++ programming. Well, at first that was a bummer, then I realized that the Objective C language that the iPhone uses is some what similar to Java, which I just happened to have a main focus in in college. Now Apple provides all of the tools you need to start programming and developing apps, there is just one catch, these tools consist of 1000′s of pages of documentation. For those who aren’t that familiar with the C programming language Apple has a nice introduction into Objective C here.

I just finished my very first, and very basic iPhone app. The app was inspired by my daughter to help teach young kids colors, and keep them distracted when they snatch your phone. All the child has to do it press a button to display the color, very simple, yet my daughter loves it.
The app is currently in review with apple and I will hopefully get it published within 14 days. When it is available I will post the URL.
I am planning some new features already which may include, color mixing, audio, maybe some animation, etc.

What is the Plateau Effect?
If you have never experienced the plateau effect from working out, then you either haven’t been lifting long enough or have been doing something right. Generally the plateau effect can come into play anywhere from a month to a few months after you start lifting. So what exactly is the plateau effect? Simply put it is when your gains in the gym have reached a plateau, you are no longer gaining strength, size, or either. So you can hit a plateau by being to consistent with your workouts and not changing anything up, when your body gets used to doing a certain set of workouts a certain way you will eventually reach a point where you are no longer gaining any benefit from that particular exercise or range of motion. The plateau can last for a few weeks or remain for months until something is changed within your regimen. By maintaining the same regimen sure you will be able maintain your size and strength, but you won’t really see very many gains.
